Catalog

To receive a Diploma, a student must complete the catalog requirements in effect at the time of enrollment. Any student re-admitted after termination from the program must meet catalog requirements in effect at the time of re-admission.

Clothing

Students must wear clothing considered appropriate to the occupation for which s/he is being trained. Example: Hard soled shoes, long pants, shirts with sleeves.

Clean-up Period

Classes may have clean-up periods. Each student is responsible for the cleanliness and orderliness of their immediate work area. Time is allotted at the end of training sessions for that purpose.

Attendance

Absences will be charged for a full day when a student attends one of the scheduled classes for that training session. A partial day of absence (to the nearest hour) will be charged for any period of absence during or at the end of the training session. School holidays, weather closures, or periods of leave of absence are not considered as time of absence. During the first 75% of a student's program of instruction, if accumulated absences reach a total of 15% of program hours, the student will be terminated for excessive absences. If at any time during the program a student is absent for three (3) consecutive training sessions, the student will be terminated from training. The re-entry of a student who has been terminated for excessive absences is at the discretion of the Vice President of Operations. This will be based on the student resolving the problems that were causing the absences. Certain requirements must be met to be reinstated:

  • A note from the student explaining the problems that they were having and how they have been rectified.
  • A meeting with the Vice President of Operations to determine that the problem that was causing the absences no longer exists.
  • If the absences were for medical reasons, a note from your Doctor saying that you are allowed to come back into training.
  • After the Vice president of Operations is assured that the problem has been taken care of, he will meet with the student's instructor about reinstating the student.
  • If everyone agrees that situation has changed and the student will be attending classes everyday, the vice president of Operations will send a reinstatement form to the instructor to allow the student back in class.

Tardiness

Tardiness will not be tolerated. Tardiness is disruptive to the instructor and the students. Students are expected to be on time for each class scheduled. Instructors will closely monitor each student's punctuality. Flagrant tardiness will be grounds for dismissal. Disciplinary action will be as follows:

  • First offense - Warning
  • Second offense - Reprimand
  • Third offense - Termination

Leaves of Absence

Leaves of absence (including military leave) shall be reasonable in duration and shall not exceed 30 school days or 60 calendar days in any six-month period, and shall be for a specific purpose. A written request for leave of absence properly dated and signed by both the student and an authorized school representative, must be placed in the individual student file within one week of the beginning of such leave of absence. If the student fails to return from leave they will be automatically terminated and a refund in accordance with policy will be completed within thirty (30) days.

Cancellation

All money paid by the applicant will be refunded if: (1) The school receives a written request for cancellation within five (5) days (until midnight of the 5th day, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays) after the Enrollment Agreement is signed, or; (2) Students who have not visited the school facility prior to enrollment will have the opportunity to withdraw without penalty within three (3) days following either the regularly scheduled orientation or following a tour of the school facilities and inspection of equipment; (3) Rejection of an applicant. If an applicant is rejected for enrollment by I.T.S. they will be entitled to a full refund of all monies paid to I.T.S. International Trucking School may retain an application fee, not to exceed twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for the processing of the application; (4) Cancellation prior to the class start days. If an applicant accepted by I.T.S. cancels within five (5) business days following the date an enrollment contract is signed, I.T.S. will refund all monies paid to the student. In the event of a cancellation notification, following this period, but prior to the start of scheduled classes, and in the case of non-starters ("no shows"), I.T.S. will refund all monies paid; less a maximum application/registration fee of one hundred dollars ($100.00). If the applicant requests cancellation after the five (5) day provision, the school will retain the registration fee.

Refunds

  • Refund computations will be based on scheduled clock hours of attendance through the last date of attendance. Leaves and absences, suspensions, and school holidays will not be counted as part of the scheduled class attendance.
  • The effective date of the termination for refund purposes will be the last date of attendance, or date receipt of written notice is received from the student.
  • If tuition is collected in advance of entrance, and if after expiration of the five (5) day cancellation privilege, the student does not enter school, not more than one hundred dollars ($100.00) shall be retained by the school.
  • If the student who enters a residence course on not more than twelve (12) months in length terminates or withdraws after the expiration of the five (5) day cancellation privilege, the school may retain one hundred dollars ($100.00) for the registration fee. In addition, the following information will be used to calculate tuition costs:

During the first week of classes, tuition charges withheld will not exceed ten (10%) of the stated tuition and in no event more than four hundred ninety nine dollars and fifty cents ($499.50).

  • After the first week and through fifty percent (50%) of the period of training and financial obligation, tuition charges withheld will not exceed a portion of tuition for the training period completed, plus ten percent (10%) of the unexpected tuition for the remaining period of training, uncompleted. The prorated amount will be computed by using the ratio of the number of weeks of instruction completed to the total number of weeks of instruction scheduled for a given program.
